In July 2017, Gadus was bought by Steinasalir Ltd., which is a group of established Icelandic seafood companies, fish producers, an Icelandic private equity fund and private investors.
It is a great strength for Gadus to be in the ownership of its main suppliers, possessing an impressive amount of the Icelandic cod fishing quota, since it ensures better quality and stability in supply for Gadus’ customers. Fast developing consumer market for high quality fish demands a closer cooperation between all parties in the supply chain.
Being closer to the customer base and understanding their needs enables the suppliers, who have decades of experience in fishing, to easier fulfil its customers demands and support marketing for high quality Icelandic fish. Steinasalir aims to stimulate consumption of fresh fish by focusing on high quality seafood offering and by inspiring consumer to eat healthy, sustainable products from the sea.
